Underworld Entities and Crime Lords

Underworld Entities are more than just smuggling rings or pirate factions but instead crime syndicates and cartels or general rogue approaches to otherwise illegal procedures. Most Underworld Entities are run by a Crime Lord, and they can manage everything from smuggling and piracy to racketeering, coercion, or illicit manufacturing. A crime lord may hire a smuggler to move shipments through blockades or customs, but a Smuggler generally doesn’t run the gambit of roughing up a storefront and then requiring funds from the proprietor to enable protection.

Crime Lords are typically greedy, self obsessive fiends for power who put their assets and finances above general morality. Crime Lords operate utilizing fronts and laundries, using legitimate business to enable them access to the finer things. They’ll hire muscle off the street to enforce their territories all the while staking claims on everything from businesses to the streets themselves as said territory. A crime lord can be influential, bribing politicians and police to ensure safety for their own miscreants and deeds. Crime Lords are usually powerful, supplementing their power through fear.
